Welcome to our website, graduatestimes.com. In this article, 50 Open Vacancies at SUA The Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), has launched the “Build a Better Tomorrow” youth engagement program.

Under the BBT-Avocado Program, SUA and the Cereals and Other Produce Regulatory Authority (COPRA) will recruit 50 agricultural graduates for a 12-month short-term contract to provide extension services. The program will strengthen the avocado value chain across Tanzania in preparation for the 2025/2026 farming season.

Project Location: Rungwe District, Mbeya Region

Open Positions and Description

1. Agricultural Officer (5 Posts)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance to avocado farmers and stakeholders.
  • Train farmers on best practices: land preparation, planting, farm management, harvesting, storage, value addition, and marketing.
  • Monitor compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
  • Conduct crop forecasting and seasonal evaluations.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and seasonal reports.
  • Supervise assistant agricultural officers and lead farmers.
  • Facilitate research trials and digital farmer database updates.
  • Oversee the distribution and use of subsidized inputs.

Qualifications:

  • Tanzanian citizen, 18–40 years old.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agronomy, Horticulture, or Crop Production and Management.
  • Honest, hardworking, team player, and willing to work in rural areas.
  • No current employment, no previous dismissal from public service, and no criminal record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Prior avocado farming experience is an added advantage.

2. Assistant Agricultural Officer (45 Posts)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver extension services to avocado farmers.
  • Train farmers on production techniques from land preparation to marketing.
  • Support GAP compliance and safe pesticide use.
  • Maintain farmer records in the digital system.
  • Assist in input distribution and usage supervision.
  • Prepare weekly and seasonal reports.
  • Link farmers with agricultural service providers and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Tanzanian citizen, 18–35 years old.
  • Diploma in Agricultural Sciences, Agronomy, Horticulture, or Crop Production and Management.
  • Trustworthy, hardworking, and willing to work in rural areas.
  • No current employment, no dismissal from public service, and no criminal record.
  • Contract-based engagement with a monthly stipend.
  • Avocado farming experience is an added advantage.
